In the chaotic world of Helldivers 2, the Automatons pose a constant threat to the survival of science teams on Super Earth. However, there is hope in the form of the Helldiver, the hero who can escort these teams to safety. If you want to successfully complete the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission in Helldivers 2 and rescue the science teams, here are some key strategies to keep in mind.

Mastering the Retrieve Essential Personnel Mission in Helldivers 2: Strategies for Success

Fix Your Loadout

To tackle the challenges of the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission, it is crucial to have the right equipment. Make sure to equip powerful Stratagems and weapons with fast mobility, such as the SG-225 Breaker, Orbital Gatling Barrage, Eagle Strafing Run, Orbital 120MM HE Barrage, Stalwart, Machine Gun, Grenade Launcher, and G-16 Impact. These will help you survive the relentless waves of enemies that you will encounter.

Drop Close to the Objective

When starting the mission, try to drop onto the planet as close to the objective as possible. Be prepared for an immediate bot breach, which will give you little time to call in supplies. Keep in mind that ammo will be scarce in this mission, so use it wisely. The objective area will quickly become swarmed with Automatons, so focus on clearing one bot breach at a time and take advantage of the small window of opportunity to unlock the doors holding the researchers.

Choose Effective Stratagems

Select Stratagems that can quickly clear enemy swarms without putting yourself in the firing line. These Stratagems will help you maintain control of the situation and prevent the Automatons from overwhelming you. Use them strategically to create openings and keep the enemy numbers to a minimum.

Escorting the Researchers

In the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission, you can only escort three researchers at a time per terminal. Each terminal has a button that you can interact with to open the door and release the researchers. The button can be used multiple times, so you can revisit the same building to release more researchers. There should be at least two holding areas filled with researchers.

When escorting the researchers, they will follow a linear path to the extraction point, which is marked by mechanical double doors with an illuminating light. Your objective is to escort a total of 20 researchers within 40 minutes to complete the Rescue Science Teams objective.

Dealing with Automaton Enemies

The type of Automaton enemies you face will depend on the difficulty level you choose. Regardless of the difficulty, it is important to keep the Automaton forces to a minimum to avoid being overwhelmed. Stay vigilant and call down artillery strikes when the Dropship arrives to keep the bot breaches under control. Additionally, always have a support weapon on hand to clear any groups of enemies.

The SG-225 Breaker is particularly effective against Automatons due to its fast firing rate and powerful bullets. Use it to quickly eliminate enemies while escorting the researchers. Remember to clear the area using artillery strikes before escorting to reduce the number of enemies you have to deal with. Save your strikes and grenades for moments when you are not escorting.

Protecting the Researchers

Keep in mind that the researchers are vulnerable and can easily die if there are too many enemies around them. Even a single bullet can accidentally kill a researcher. Exercise precision and use the Breaker to eliminate any enemies that pose a threat to the researchers. Once the escorted researchers are safe, clear the area again to ensure their safety. Repeat this method until all 20 researchers have been safely extracted.

By following these strategies and utilizing the right equipment, you can successfully complete the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission in Helldivers 2 and rescue the science teams. Good luck, Helldiver!
